Traverse City — A 1-year-old is receiving treatment for critical injuries after being hit by a car while being pulled in a bike trailer.

The child’s father was riding a bicycle while pulling the toddler in a bike trailer across Woodmere Avenue when a car on Hannah Avenue turned left and hit the trailer.

The child was transported to Munson Medical Center and stabilized before being transferred to DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids for the treatment of “critical injuries,” the Traverse City Police Department said in a press release.

The father and driver weren’t injured in the crash.

Officers responded to calls about the crash Thursday around 5:15 p.m. and the preliminary investigation indicated the car, driven by a 62-year-old Interlochen woman, was heading west on Hannah Avenue
