NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk school leaders are expected to vote on a plan that would close at least eight buildings in the next few years . Several other schools in the city would be consolidated or repurposed.

The move comes after the Norfolk City Council pushed the school board to come up with a plan to address dropping enrollment and funding issues. The board was scheduled to vote two weeks ago, but they pushed back the decision .

Monday's vote is scheduled for 5 p.m., with a joint meeting between the city council and the school board set for Tuesday, October 7.
