JEFFERSON CITY, Mo - National Fire Prevention Week runs October 5th through the 11th. This year's theme is "Charge Into Fire Safety."
It will focus on the growing need to understand fire risks in our technology-filled lives. Many electronic devices use lithium-ion batteries. If these batteries aren't used correctly or damaged, they can overheat and either start a fire or explode.
Reports of such incidents have gradually increased in recent years. To help with fire prevention consumers are encouraged to buy only listed products, charge devices safely with the proper charging device, and dispose or recycle batteries responsibly.
