JOHNSON COUNTY, Mo - A Warrensburg man made his initial court appearance this morning in Johnson County after being arrested over the weekend.

According to a probable cause statement, Knob Noster Police and Johnson County Sheriff Deputies responded to a report of a vehicle theft just before 3 am on Saturday. The vehicle driven by 44-year-old Matthew William Laymon was located on Missouri Highway 23.

Laymon failed to comply with an attempted traffic stop and led authorities on a high-speed chase through both Johnson and Pettis counties. The chase reached speeds of over 100 miles-per-hour and at one point involved Laymon traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of U.S. Highway 50.
