BENTON COUNTY, Mo - An Independence man is facing an assault charge in Benton County.

According to a probable cause statement, Benton County Deputies responded on August 12th to a reported assault at the Bent Tree Harbor Property Owners Association. It was determined the victim was attacked by multiple men in the parking lot. The attack resulted in a broken cheekbone and a concussion.

The investigation identified 38-year-old Jeremiah Linn Hayes as one of the attackers. Hayes admitted to taking part in the attack during a phone interview with authorities on August 14th. He faces one count of first-degree assault for the incident.
