CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A woman is facing charges in connection with a deadly auto-pedestrian hit-and-run that happened Saturday on Edisto Island.
Janet Brown, 53, of Adams Run, was arrested on charges of felony driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident, according to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to Highway 174 and Pine Landing Road around 7 p.m. Saturday for reports that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, who has not yet been publicly identified, died at the scene.
“The vehicle that had hit the individual initially fled the scene but was later stopped by a concerned citizen,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
Brown was taken to the Al Cannon Detention Center.
