Hawaii stores recall radioactive frozen shrimp and Sprout Organics pouches

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii grocery stores are recalling two products due to the potential risk of harmful contamination.

Thousands of bags of frozen shrimp have been recalled because they could could be contaminated with a radioactive isotope.

In Hawaii, Great American Seafood Import Company’s frozen shrimp skewers in two-pound packages were sold at local supermarkets such as Foodland.

Health officials said while no product has tested positive for the isotope in the U.S. marketplace, the recall has been issued for frozen shrimp products originating from the foreign seafood processor.

Additionally, Sprout Organics is recalling its 3.5-ounce Sweet Potato Apple and Spinach pouches due to potential containment of elevated levels of lead.
