SALEM, Ore. (KPTV) - The Oregon Senate will meet Monday to decide on a transportation package to fund the Oregon Department of Transportation after several delays .

The Oregon House of Representatives passed House Bill 3991 and House Bill 3992 following much debate on the floor during a special session on Sept. 2.

Governor Tina Kotek’s transportation package aims to save ODOT from major layoffs but comes with some changes for Oregonians including increased gas tax, doubled payroll tax, and increased vehicle registration fees.

Right now, ODOT is facing a more than $350 million budget gap.

Republicans have said they don’t like the bill because they don’t think Oregonians should be paying for ODOT’s poor funding choices.

Many House Democrats also said that this was not their idea
