The meltdown of the Mets’ 2025 season came to an end Sunday night with a 4-0 loss to the Miami Marlins.

For the Mets to make the playoffs this year, yesterday’s slate needed to result with a Mets win and a Reds loss. Cincinnati did lose, 4-2, to the Brewers, giving the Mets a chance.

But New York lost, squashing any playoff hopes for the talented and expensive roster this year. After cementing that fate, the Marlins celebrated taking down a divisional foe by taking a team picture in front of their dugout.

The Mets broadcast team took some issue with that.

“I’m watching the Marlins, they just took a team picture in front of their dugout like they’re going to the postseason,” Ron Darling said.

The Marlins finished 79-83, in third place in the NL East.
