COLUMBIA, S.C. (WSPA) - University of South Carolina edge rusher Bryan Thomas Jr. was named the SEC co-defensive lineman of the week, as announced by the league office Monday morning.

The 6-foot-2, 249 pound senior helped the Gamecocks pull out a 35-13 win over visiting Kentucky Saturday night with a game-, and career, high seven tackles and two sacks.

Thomas Jr. is the third Gamecock this season to earn conference honors after Fred Johnson was named the co-defensive player of the week in week one, and Vicari Swain received back-to-back co-special teams player of the week honors for his performance in week one and week two.

Thomas Jr. and the Gamecocks (3-2, 1-2 SEC) have a week six bye before they head to Baton Rouge, Louisiana for a week seven matchup at LSU on October 11.
