Finding a new home for the Vancouver Art Galler y has been something of a momentous task. You’d think, in Vancouver, the hard part would be the land. That’s not the case, as the gallery has a dedicated site waiting for it at Larwill Park, a few blocks east of its current location.

No, it’s been the design that’s been the problem. After previously picking Swiss architect firm Herzog and de Meuron to design the building, the project was scrapped last year when its budget reportedly ballooned from $400 million to $600 million.
