Work continues on the Quarry Exhibit Hall parking lot in Dinosaur National Monument with the famous building expected to reopen in late October or early November. In the meantime, Monument staff are providing visitors with suggestions of adventures that can still be had. Hikes range from 1/3-mile roundtrip to 9 miles roundtrip within the Monument. On the 2-mile (roundtrip) Fossil Discovery Trail there are naturally exposed dinosaur bone fossils if you know where to look. There is the Hog Canyon and Box Canyon Trails from Josie’s Cabin area for those looking for a shorter hike. Another great use of time at the Monument is night sky viewing.
