Chase Elliott started the second overtime attempt at Kansas Speedway on the playoff cut-line, but everything changed when the checkered flag was thrown. After Denny Hamlin and Bubba Wallace went up the track in Turn 3, Elliott drove by on the bottom, making contact with the No. 11 car. The Hendrick Motorsports driver pulled off a stunning win at Kansas in dramatic fashion.

Following the event, Elliott climbed from his No. 9 car in shock after restarting outside of the top five spots on the final restart. The win marks Elliott's second of the 2025 NASCAR season and locks him into the Round of 8.

"Everything worked out perfect for me," Elliott said. "Had a great push through one and two. That kind of all started with [Brad Keselowski]. Big run off of two. Seas kind of parted and just was able to keep my momentum up. That was really it. Obviously we still had pretty good tires compared to those guys, but what a crazy finish. Hope you all enjoyed that. I certainly did. Really proud of our team. Had a really solid weekend, win or no win. Really nice to qualify really well."

"We’ll certainly enjoy this, man. This is pretty cool. Just never take this stuff for granted because they’re hard to come by. Learned that the hard way. Always enjoy it. Always appreciate it. Thanks to everybody at KBB. What a great partner. Been on board for this is our tenth year together, which is pretty cool. Chevrolet, everybody, Hendrick Motorsports. Boss, thanks, buddy. Appreciate it. Glad to be bringing one home."

Elliott didn't have the best car at Kansas, as Hamlin and Christopher Bell were much better than the rest of the field. However, the driver of the No. 9 car had the right strategy with four fresh tires and made it count when it mattered the most. Elliott needed a win to make his Round of 12 finale at the Charlotte ROVAL easier, and the No. 9 team accomplished that goal.
