The Energy Saving Trust has said by turning your thermostat down by only one degree, you could save around £90 per year.

And the money saving is even higher in Northern Ireland, where residents could save £100 by carrying out the simple trick.

Experts have also recommended setting your heating to the lowest comfortable temperature for your needs, in a bid to save your hard earned cash.
