Cineworld no longer has the crown of operating the world's tallest cinema after the company left its famous Glasgow home.

The Renfrew Street building has been operated by the company for two decades since its acquisition from UGC in 2005. Cineworld previously confirmed the landlord intended to take back the site in July.

The cinema has officially shut its doors for the last time on Sunday, reports the Record . Opening in September 2001, the world's tallest cinema complex stood at 62 metres high, roughly 203 feet.

It had 18 screens across 12 storeys, and could seat more than 4,200 people.
