Local heroes received well deserved recognition this past week. Uintah County Sheriff’s Deputies and Search and Rescue were honored at the annual Utah Sheriff’s Association conference held in St. George. “Deputy Kyle Russell and former Deputy Jacob O’Donnal were recognized and awarded the Gold Medal of Valor, and Deputy Drexson Simmons was recognized and awarded the Life Saving Award for their role in a May 2024 shooting in Uintah County,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “Uintah County Search and Rescue Commander Shad Shelley was recognized as Search and Rescue Member of the Year for the State of Utah.” The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office congratulated these individuals for being recognized for their service and dedication to our community and county.
