GRAND BLANC TWP, MI – Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer called for a lowering of rhetoric on the day following a shooting and fire on Sunday morning at a Grand Blanc Township church.
The incident at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints off McCandlish Road left four people dead and several others injured. Police said the shooter, 40-year-old Thomas Jacob Sanford, was killed in the church’s parking lot.
Whitmer thanked all agencies during a Monday, Sept. 29 press conference at the Grand Blanc Township Police Department for their work, from police to fire, EMS and medical providers “for saving lives and caring for those that are still fighting for their lives in the hospital.”
