Charter school introduces rising girls sport for first time

Highland Prep Surprise made history this fall by introducing girls flag football, providing a game-changing opportunity for young women to build confidence, strength and teamwork in a supportive and empowering environment.

Officials for the STEM-focused college-preparatory high school said the addition of flag football to its athletic program reflects the school’s commitment to innovation, inclusivity and student empowerment.

Flag football has become a recognized scholarship sport for girls at the collegiate level and is now a sanctioned high school sport in several states.
