Two area politicians — accused of physically attacking St. Louis County Councilwoman Shalonda Webb last week — filed a lawsuit Monday claiming Webb started the fight after a public meeting last week.

The suit was filed Monday on behalf of state Sen. Angela Mosley of Florissant; and her sister, former county councilwoman Rochelle Walton Gray of Black Jack.

On Sunday, Webb told the Post-Dispatch that Mosley struck her in the face and broke her glasses, and that Gray then grabbed her. The confronation came at the end of a town hall meeting Thursday night at Bellefontaine Neighbors City Hall.

“They attacked me, and I had to defend myself,” Webb said in an interview.
