The Manitoba government is making changes to how home care is delivered in Winnipeg, after problems emerged with a centralized scheduling model introduced earlier this year.
Health, Seniors and Long-Term Care Minister Uzoma Asagwara said the NDP government is responding to concerns raised by clients and staff. “We’ve heard clearly from clients and workers that the system needed to change, and that’s what we’re delivering,” Asagwara said Monday.

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority has hired more than 250 new home-care aides and 32 scheduling clerks since the fall of 2023. The additional staff allow the system to complete more than 16,500 visits per day.
Earlier this year, the WRHA shifted to a centralized scheduling model, which altered how services were coordinate
