The Manitoba government is expanding its real-time traffic tools with the installation of 20 permanent digital message boards and 19 highway cameras, Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Lisa Naylor announced Monday.

The message boards will be placed along key routes, including Provincial Trunk Highways 1, 1E, 6, 75, 100 and 101. Locations include near Emerson, Portage la Prairie, Thompson and Winnipeg. Each board will display live updates on delays, closures, detours and weather advisories. They are remotely operated and updated instantly.

Installation began in July, and the system is expected to be fully operational by the end of this fall.
