PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A high school student was killed in a car crash last week in Pitt County after troopers say the car flipped multiple times.
Troopers say Elisha Barrett was a passenger in a car heading west on Sweet Gum Grove Church Road near Staton Mill Road.
The crash happened around 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
Troopers say another teen was driving the car that went off the road to the right, overcorrected, and the car flipped multiple times, causing the driver to be thrown from the vehicle.
Barrett, a 16-year-old junior at North Pitt High School, died at the scene, while the driver survived.
The Highway Patrol will disclose more information if the driver is charged as an adult.
