THE New York Mets owner sent a long apology to fans after the team's disastrous collapse.

The Mets once had the best record in baseball back in June, only to miss the playoffs.

The Mets stunningly missed the playoffs following a three-month disappointing stretch.

The team's collapse was complete on Sunday after a 4-0 road defeat to the division rival Miami Marlins in Sunday's regular-season finale.

The following day, Mets owner Steve Cohen apologized to the fans and called the team's campaign "unacceptable."
