Pub goers watched in horror as a man ran in after "having his hand cut clean off" while at an 18th birthday party nearby.
At around 12.20am on Saturday September 27, emergency crews rushed to The Stanley Arms on Roby Road in Huyton.
It is understood the assault took place during a house party, according to neighbours, with the victim running from a house on Colin Close into the pub directly across the road. One witness said the victim's hand was "clean off" when he entered the pub, which was moments from closing.
Neighbours told the Liverpool Echo how there had been a party on the night of Friday, September 26, with an 18th birthday banner on the front door of the property where the assault is believed to have happened.
