CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Edward Earl Roby Jr., a 28-year-old from Waterloo, Iowa, has been sentenced to nearly five years in federal prison for illegal firearm possession as a felon. This follows his guilty plea on May 13, 2025, to possessing a firearm as a felon. In July 2021, Waterloo police found a gun in Roby's car during a traffic stop. He pleaded guilty in December 2021 to being a felon in possession of a firearm. Despite his guilty plea, Roby remained free until his sentencing. In February 2022, while awaiting sentencing, Roby was found in a car linked to a shooting incident.
