DUBUQUE COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) - A Maquoketa woman is accused of using her phone before she hit and killed a semi-truck driver with her vehicle in Dubuque County.
On August 11, authorities responded to a report of a vehicle accident with injuries southbound on Highway 61, north of Buncombe Road.
The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office says Jayesth Paul pulled over his semi to secure his load.
27-year-old Kaylynn Knight, of Maquoketa, then hit the back of the semi-trailer including the semi driver with her vehicle. The semi driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to court documents, Knight initially said she got distracted with climate control settings.
