ROSELAND, La. (WVUE) - A local videographer said he was stunned to get a phone call from Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry, after posting video showing thousands of gallons of oily residue still in waterways weeks after the Aug. 22 fire at Smitty’s Supply Inc. in Roseland.

Landry now is demanding that the EPA and its cleanup contractors speed things up.

One week after he documented the oily residue in ponds and waterways near Smitty’s, photographer Eric McVicker said he couldn’t believe his eyes.

“It was apparent to me that not only was no progress made, but it actually looked a little bit worse from when I went out this past Saturday as opposed to the weekend before,” McVicker said.

McVicker posted his footage on social media, which got Landry’s attention.
