LANSING, (Mich.) WLNS -- Leaders with the East Lansing Police Department want people in mid-Michigan to know that there are resources that can help keep local congregations safe.

East Lansing Police Chief Jen Brown said she feels for the Grand Blanc community.

On Sunday, four victims were killed, and eight people were left injured after a shooting and fire at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc. The suspect, 40-year-old Thomas Jacob Sanford, of Burton, Michigan, was also killed during the shooting.

"First of all, our thoughts and prayers are with the entire community of Grand Blanc. It's a horrible situation to have to go through, and our hearts are out to them," said Brown.
