Governor Ned Lamont joined state leaders Friday to sign the Hero Act into law at VFW Post 5095 in East Hampton.

The new legislation officially designates November as Veteran’s Month and looks to honor and recognize veterans in the state.

The Hero Act provides a list of services for veterans including free license renewals, fee waivers for Purple Heart license plates and a waiver for nursing home waiting lists.

“We are grateful for our leaders’ dedication to ensuring that those who served receive the honor, care, and support they deserve,” a post by the VFW said.
