ROCHESTER, Minn.- The City of Rochester is encouraging the community consider alternative modes of transportation for a Week Without Driving.

The city and Destination Medical Center say there are lots of options to consider including cycling, public buses and carpooling.

The City Council's Nick Miller from Ward 2, says he's excited to see the community take advantage of the opportunity.

He says he bikes one mile to work at City Hall every day and for others looking to try the same this week he has a several tips on what to do beforehand.

Miller says cyclists should always make sure to check their bike chains, brakes and tires before going on the road.

On warmer weeks like this one, he says it's important pack water and dress appropriately.
