FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — A day after Arkansas athletics announced the firing of head football coach Sam Pittman, Athletic Director Hunter Yurachek and interim head coach Bobby Petrino discussed the decision and the road ahead on Sept. 29.
Yurachek, who hired Pittman in 2019, said the choice to part ways was tough but necessary. However, he felt like changes needed to be made after the last three games with the Razorbacks falling by one possession or the major loss Saturday against Notre Dame . Pittman ended his time in Fayetteville with a 32-34 overall record.
"Our performance was just unacceptable," Yurachek said. "It wasn't a Razorback football performance that any of us were proud of, and that ultimately falls at the feet of the head coach."
