WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) -- Waterbury officials have announced that water service has been restored citywide after a water main break last Tuesday interrupted service for around 1,000 Waterbury and Watertown residents.

City officials said Monday evening that new valves have been successfully installed along Huntingdon Avenue, where the initial water main break took place, and the city's pipes are in the process of refilling.

Residents who were affected by low pressure or loss of water in the last week are still asked to boil their water before using it until the boil advisory is lifted. Water samples will be collected tomorrow and the city will provide an update on its website once the results become available.
