NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- Speed cameras are coming to North Haven after approval from the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

Speeding in North Haven will be enforced like never before. At Monday night's special town meeting, the town approved an ordinance to implement speed enforcement cameras at high incident areas and school zones -- as well as cameras that catch drivers illegally passing school buses.

"Our town, my office, our police department -- we have been inodiated, rightfully so, with the number of speeding, the number of incidents of speeding that's going around the town,” North Haven Town First Selectmen Mike Freda said. “It becomes, really, a public safety issue."
