Different types of people who are unacceptable run wide and deep. Having lived a reasonably long life, I’ve seen major changes and who is acceptable and who is “non grata” — Latin for not pleasing.

Today’s personal identity politics is extreme, mostly based on who you pray to, what language you speak or who you love.

So much for the 1960s “Age of Aquarius,” which espoused peace, acceptance and love in civil society. The anti-war musical “Hair” was mostly about race and class. It ends with a full-scale piece protest, with a wide spectrum of humanity living together and being able to disagree without resorting to violence.
