A new Aspen Police Department pilot traffic position targeted at increasing safety in the West End has resulted in over 200 traffic stops in that neighborhood since Aug. 25.

The police department launched the temporary position to respond to increased traffic in the West End neighborhood after hearing increased concerns from residents that traffic was worse this summer. About 45% of the 214 traffic stops in the West End have resulted in citations since APD Patrol Officer John Young began monitor
