With OSU parting ways with longtime head coach Mike Gundy last week, there are a variety of things to watch for. NCAA rules allow players to enter the transfer portal in a 30-day window after a coaching change is made, and at least three OSU players are planning to or have already done so.
Long snapper Shea Freibaum, who was heavily recruited out of high school, has already stated on social media that he will transfer.
Safety Dylan Smith may also check out other options. He’s played in all four games this season, with a fumble recovery and a forced fumble to his credit.
Smith could sit out the rest of the season while maintaining a redshirt, and as a junior could have two years of eligibility. Another safety, DeAndre Boykins, is entering the portal.
