Sonam Wangchuk has been kept in Jodhpur jail. He is accused of inciting violence.

In the latest developments alongside Leh violence, the demand for statehood in Ladakh and the release of the arrested youths, including environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk, has intensified.

The Leh Apex Body (LAB), along with the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA), has stated that they will not engage in talks with the high-powered committee of the Centre until the situation in Ladakh normalises.

Thupstan Chhewang, Chairman of LAB, said that there is an atmosphere of fear, sorrow, and anger in Ladakh. Until peace is restored, we will stay away from talks.
