1. EC releases final voter list of Bihar after SIR exercise: 65 lakh names dropped in first draft

The Election Commission (EC) released the final list of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) today, Tuesday. Around 7.3 crore voters are expected to feature in the updated list, which may also include approximately 14 lakh new voters.

The SIR process began in June 2025, during which forms were updated by 7.89 crore registered voters. An interim list was released on August 1, removing 65 lakh names. These excluded voters were either deceased, had permanently moved, or in some cases, held duplicate voter IDs
