A Boston-bound flight was forced to slam on its breaks while taking off from Los Angeles at 154 miles per hour Sunday night after a cargo plane crossed a runway without authorization, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and WCVB.
Around 10:35 p.m., AeroLogic Flight 619 crossed a runway at Los Angeles International Airport without authorization as American Airlines Flight 2453 was taking off, according to a statement from the FAA .
By the time air traffic controllers asked the AeroLogic plane to stop, it had already landed, WCVB reported . They then told the American Airlines plane to cancel its takeoff, leading them to halt the plane abruptly while cruising at 154 miles per hour.
The planes were just under a mile apart from one another at their closest proximity,
