Amid a sizable capital campaign and some campus construction, a local school for children with dyslexia is adding new leadership to the mix.

Riverside School, located at 2110 McRae Road in Bon Air, recently announced the appointment of Debra Mitchell as its new head of school, succeeding Hal Waller, who had been with the school since 2017.

Riverside is a “remediation” school, where students typically only attend for a couple of years to address and hone in on reading and spelling concerns.

Mitchell took over the head of school role in mid-June, bringing with her around 30 years of educational experience.
