AUSTIN, Texas — Texas will begin enforcing a new law Wednesday that bans the sale of THC and hemp-derived products to anyone under 21.
Starting Oct. 1, liquor stores and other businesses licensed by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission will face new restrictions on THC product sales.
The TABC passed an emergency rule earlier this month to give retailers time to prepare after Gov. Greg Abbott signed an executive order regulating THC products, following the recent second special session.
“This is about making sure there’s consistency across the state and that everybody does it right,” said Mark Bordas of the Texas Hemp Business Council.
The new rule currently applies only to liquor license holders, including restaurants and package stores. State health officials are expected to dra
