Half of Hamiltonians believe their neighbourhoods are becoming more dangerous, with vehicle thefts, vandalism and break-ins atop the list of concerns, according to a community safety survey.
The survey , conducted by Wilfrid Laurier University researchers, gathered responses from 1,245 residents across the city between January and April 2025.
Hamilton police funded the project last year to better understand residents’ perceptions of crime and safety, identify safe and unsafe areas, and gauge experiences with victimization and police. Results are intended to inform the service’s strategic plan for preventive community safety measures.
