A head-on crash between a school bus and pickup killed the pickup’s driver and injured two people on the bus Tuesday morning, according to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.

The bus, which was headed to Anoka High School, had five students on board. The driver and a student were transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash happened near 175th Avenue and Roanoke Street in Andover about 7 a.m. A pickup carrying a trailer was northbound on Roanoke when the driver crossed the center line and struck the school bus head-on as it was going southbound, according to preliminary information from the sheriff’s office.

First responders gave life-saving measures to the man driving the pickup, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
