An elderly woman has tragically passed away after falling from a window at a care home.

Emergency services were summoned to Berrycroft Manor care home, in Romiley, Stockport, at around 7.30am on September 29.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) reported that a 78-year-old woman was rushed to hospital following a fall, where she sadly succumbed later in the day.

The manager of Berrycroft Manor referred to the incident as a 'tragic accident' and confirmed an investigation is ongoing, reports the Manchester Evening News .

The Care Quality Commission (CQC), the regulator for care homes and medical providers, has been informed of the incident.
