AKRON, Ohio – As the city of Akron moves forward with its yearlong bicentennial celebration , it is hosting clean-up events in each of the city’s nine wards to try to beautify the city and bolster civic pride.
The Bicentennial Beautification Initiative is open to residents, community groups, workplaces and places of worship. Participants don’t need to live or work in a specific neighborhood to volunteer.
Upcoming clean-up events include:
Saturday, Oct. 4
The city is asking participants to sign-up if they are interested in volunteering.
Saturday, Oct. 18
Saturday, Oct. 25
Sign-ups for the Oct. 18 and Oct. 25 clean-ups will be posted on the Eventbrite website in the coming weeks.
Volunteers are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and bring a pair of work gloves and a water bot
