CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A mother and son have been arrested in connection with a series of thefts targeting residents.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office said it worked with the Edisto Police Department in arresting Dana Cooley and her son, James Austin Cooley, in connection with the alleged crimes.

According to the sheriff’s office, the pair posed as housekeepers and pet sitters to gain access to homes under the guise of offering trusted services.

Once inside the victims’ homes, they allegedly stole items from the unsuspecting clients.

The sheriff’s office said James Cooley has a history of similar offenses.
