TAWAS CITY – In what would have marked their first appearance at the Iosco County 23rd Circuit Court in Tawas City, since having been bound over from district court on Aug. 5, both Meiqing Chen and Wenying Wu were scheduled for an arraignment and pre-trial on Sept. 22.

Save for their initial arraignment in May, back when they were first arrested, each of the defendants have thus far participated remotely in their various court hearings. However, neither Chen nor Wu ended up joining the latest event – either virtually or in person – due to an apparent miscommunication. Attorney Elias Muawad, though, did appear on their behalf via Zoom.
