OTTAWA COUNTY, Michigan — A woman is facing a murder charge in her husband's death, the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office says.
Shortly after 9 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, deputies responded to a call about a shooting in the 100 block of Brookmeadow Court in Georgetown Township. When they arrived, they found 52-year-old Elieser Lores Montano dead.
An autopsy determined Montano's death was a homicide, caused by a gunshot wound.
Now, Michelle Matos-Colon, his 49-year-old wife, is facing a charge of open murder and felony firearm possession. Her bond was set at $1 million at her arraignment Tuesday.
The sheriff's office said they believe the shooting stemmed from a domestic situation. Montano and Matos-Colon previously lived at the apartment together, police say.
