BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) - As an investigation into a July incident concludes, Binghamton Police Chief Joseph Zikuski is stepping down from his position with the department.

Kraham announced on Tuesday that Zikuski resigned from his role and will be retiring on October 6. Zikuski has been on paid administrative leave since July 20.

Kraham says an independent investigation into an incident in Johnson City involving Zikuski and his girlfriend is concluding. Kraham says the outside law firm hired by the City of Binghamton to investigate is completing its written report, which will be released shortly, once finalized.
