A man caught trying to steal a £500 inflatable hot tub has been banned from every B&Q in Cheshire .

Carl Proctor placed a Lay-Z-Spa in his trolley on August 11 before the fire alarm was activated and he quickly exited through a side door at a B&Q in Crewe.

As the 41-year-old tried to flee, security caught him red handed and recovered the tub alongside three outdoor lights and a plant.

But Proctor, from Chell Heath, Stoke-on-Trent, managed to escape empty handed after pushing a security guard who was in the process of alerting the police.

He was later recognised as having been responsible for two further thefts from the same store.

Items nicked on previous looting sprees included power tools and other expensive electrical goods, which totalled £1,800.
